Brazil’s water cycle is dependent upon the Amazon Forest, which is also the water engine for the entire continent. To paraphrase the Federal Deputy of Rio de Janeiro, ‘To have water, you need forests. To have agriculture, you need water, but the powerful agricultural sector in Brazil lobbies for deforestation. It therefore lobbies for less rain and with the long term risk of no rain. Go figure…
